We remind residents to place waste containers at the roadside only after 7:00 p.m. the evening before collection, and to use rigid containers with lids. We also ask that you store your rolling bin when it is not collection day.

Owners of properties not served by door-to-door collection, as well as seasonal residents, may subscribe to the central waste collection site. This locked enclosure, located next to the town hall, was set up so they can dispose of household garbage, recyclables, and organic materials (compost) at any time.

The subscription fee, payable at the municipal office, is $120 (one-time payment). The cost to replace a key is $50.

The Régie intermunicipale de gestion des déchets solides de la région de Coaticook (RIGDSC) handles special processing for certain residual materials not accepted through municipal collection (a per-metric-tonne fee may apply to certain materials).

The Municipality has entered into an agreement with the Ressourcerie des Frontières, which provides home pickup of your bulky items and other objects. The Ressourcerie des Frontières is a social economy enterprise whose mission is to recover items destined for landfill: items that can be repurposed are cleaned and repaired, then resold in the Ressourcerie’s store, or dismantled and sold to recyclers. The Ressourcerie creates about a dozen jobs and diverts more than 300 tonnes of residual materials from landfill each year — the equivalent of 30 truckloads of waste.

The Mobile Eco-Centre is dedicated to material recovery: a Ressourcerie des Frontières truck collects items and materials that are recyclable or intended for resale, and containers are available for wood, metal, and waste that cannot be recovered. On site, volunteers will direct you to the appropriate place to drop off your materials.

As a rural community, the Municipality of Ogden naturally encourages its residents to compost their plant materials at home, reducing the amount of waste transported to landfill while enriching their gardens and flower beds. Home composting costs the municipality nothing: reducing the amount of material sent to landfill helps avoid steep increases in the waste tax rate, and your garden will be all the happier for it!
