Civic Security

Civic Security Plan

The Municipality of Ogden has prepared a Civic Security Plan. This Plan is the written result of our planning process, which sets out the measures to be implemented to protect the life and health of persons, provide assistance, safeguard property, or mitigate the effects of a major disaster.

The Municipal Civic Security Organization (MCSO)

The Municipal Civic Security Organization (MCSO) makes up our response team in the event of a major disaster. The MCSO team is made up of all municipal stakeholders (members of the municipal council and municipal staff), as well as volunteer citizens grouped into various “missions.”

Every member of this team has responsibilities and a role to play in the event of a disaster. This team is organized as shown in the organization chart below.

If you would like to offer your skills or special equipment in the event of a disaster, volunteer, or let us know if hazardous materials are present on your property, please contact us at info@munogden.ca.

The Civic Security Plan provides for various means of reaching our population or staying in contact before, during or after a major disaster. These means may be used in combination depending on the situation and the urgency.

To receive alerts and notifications in the event of an emergency, sign up by clicking the link below.

Among the means selected are:

  • Automated “Municipal Alerts” system to receive automated alerts of all categories (evacuation, shelter-in-place, road closures, outages, notices, etc.), by phone, email or text message (depending on registration).
  • Radio media to broadcast alert messages, as well as updates on the situation. Priority stations: 102.7 ROUGE FM and Radio-Canada Première – Estrie 101.1 (in French), 91.7 CBC (in English). Other media (radio or TV) may also be used.
  • The Municipality’s website (munogden.ca), our newsletter by subscription, and our bulletin “La Chronique de Ogden.”

Why not subscribe to the various means available (automated alerts, newsletter and bulletin) and pre-set your radio stations?

It is also important to notify the Municipality of any change in your contact information to make sure we can reach you. To subscribe to these services or update your contact information, please contact the Municipality at 819 876-7117 or write to us at info@munogden.ca.

In order to respond effectively, emergency premises have been designated where the main activities related to the MCSO’s missions could take place, such as:

  • Municipal coordination of relief activities: planned at the Town Hall. Public access will be restricted during certain events.
  • Services for disaster victims and temporary shelter services (registration and reunification of evacuees, general services, information, food, temporary shelter): planned primarily at the Town Hall as well, which also serves as the assembly point for the population should you need to leave your home or workplace during a disaster. Other temporary shelter locations may be activated, such as Stanstead College and regional schools.

Agreements have been reached for the use of non-municipal premises or with certain organizations, such as the Canadian Red Cross, to support our Services for Disaster Victims team.

And you? What can you do in this area? Would you be able to cope with an emergency situation? We strongly encourage you to put together an emergency kit to meet your needs during the first 72 hours of an emergency.
